Church at Sea
You are now standing in front of the Old or Andreas church, named after the apostle Andrew, patron saint of fishermen.
This church was built around 1460 and was then located in the middle of the village!
Over the years, the sea has taken over more and more land and after a storm in 1570, some of the houses and buildings have been washed away by the sea.
As a result, the church is now the only in the Netherlands that is situated right next to the sea.
Despite various hardships, the church survived and is definitely worth this beautiful spot!
