Barrel Bridge
This statue with the name ‘Maatjes’ symbolizes the 5 villages that together form the municipality of Katwijk and also their connection with the fish-and herring trade.
Herrings were stored in herring barrels. In the summer, Katwijk pays a tribute to the barrels by building a ‘barrel-bridge’.
During summer months it stands next to the Andreas-church.
