Welcome to Katwijk
A versatile fishing village with a close-knit community within the larger municipality of Katwijk.
Due to its location at the North Sea and the mouth of the Rhine river, the history of this area goes back a long way.
It was a very important town in Roman times and home to a lot of different tribes who lived here.
Subsequently, the Christian faith made its appearance, which still plays an important role within the Katwijk community today.
Since the 17th century, various artists also found their way to Katwijk. A few centurys later a real Artists’ Colony arose here.
All of this has led to a nice combination of architecture and art in the streets, so let’s start discovering!
