Hortus Botanicus
Minerva’s owl, the Hortus and the university have a strong connection.
Behind the owl you can see the first building in which the university was founded: the Academy Building.
The Hortus Botanicus was founded only a few years later, so that students could study medicinal herbs.
The oldest university in the Netherlands was donated to the city by William of Orange in 1575.
Walk past the owl and further on, go left underneath the building.
Go left, pass the mini library and at the end turn left again.
Look for a round plaque somewhere on the facade.
