Limes

The Rhine formed the northern border of the Empire (named Limes) and Katwijk was the westernmost point.

Therefore Katwijk had two Roman army camps at the time. One was near Valkenburg, the other more towards the coast: the mysterious Fort Brittenburg.

Walk past the seagull and search closer to  the sea for a work of art honoring Fort Brittenburg.
